DAAD Scholarship Coverage:
The DAAD Scholarship 2026 for Masters and PhD Germany provides the recipient with the following benefits:
  • Depending on academic level, monthly rewards range from 934 euros for graduates to 1,300 euros for doctoral candidates.
  • Travel allowance, unless these expenses are reimbursed by your home nation or another source of support.
  • Payments for health, accident, and personal liability insurance coverage.
  • One-time study allowance.
Under certain conditions, scholarship holders may obtain the following additional benefits:

  • Monthly allowance for accompanying family members.



Eligibility Criteria for the DAAD Scholarship 2026
To be eligible for the DAAD Scholarship 2026 for Masters and PhD Germany, applicants must complete the following requirements:

Required languages: English or German.
  • English is the primary language of instruction in overseas programs. You are normally required to present an English language certificate, such as TOEFL or IELTS.
  • Other programs use German as their language of instruction. You are normally needed to produce a German language certificate, such as DSH or TestDaF.

  • With the current date, write a personally signed Letter of Motivation (concerning your current occupation and your preferred postgraduate program(s), two pages maximum.
  • IMPORTANT: When applying for more than one postgraduate course (maximum of three), you must submit a single motivation letter describing why you are applying for these specific courses and why you have chosen that priority.
  • Letter of recommendation from your current employer; the letter must contain letterhead, a signature, an official stamp, and be current (not in a sealed envelope).
  • Certificate(s) of Employment from the employer(s) demonstrating a minimum of two years of relevant working experience (post-bachelor's degree) at the time of application, as well as a promise of re-employment from your current employer upon returning home.
Proof of language skills:
  • English - IELTS or TOEFL (Note: Institutional TOEFL is not approved).
  • German - Required for courses taught in German.
  • Copies of academic degrees (certified translations if required)
  • Copies of academic transcripts, including the grading system (certified translation if needed)
  • Applicants from the People's Republic of China are required to provide an APS Certificate with their application.

Step-by-Step Application and Selection Procedure for the DAAD Scholarship
  1. Choose courses that interest you. (You can apply for up to three courses.)
  2. Apply to universities that offer those courses.
  3. You submit your complete application(s) (with the aforementioned documents) directly to the colleges.
  4. A selection committee recommends candidates for a DAAD scholarship.
  5. DAAD will contact the suggested applicants and request that they upload their entire applications to the DAAD Portal. (DAAD will offer a connection to the DAAD Portal via email.)
  6. The selection process will be completed, and the recommended candidates will be notified appropriately.
